The Norfolk and Western Railway
This table is sorted by Unit type, Manufacturer & Horsepower, with links to images, where available. Note that the majority of the images are not from the 1968 timeframe, and as such may not reflect the paint schemes current in 1968. Some units are in their original Nickle Plate or Wabash livery, and some are in the post 1970 NW scheme.
Ex VGN, WAB and NKP units are easy to identify from the N&W road number:
In virtually all cases, the 1, 2, or 3 was prepended onto the original road number. In the case of ex P&WV units, these kept their original numbers. The only active P&WV units at this time were 66, 70 & 71, which comprised all the FM H20-44s on the roster.
